The LaSalle Canal Boat and Lock 16 Visitor Center is in LaSalle, Illinois, less than two hours from Chicago; an hour and a half from the Quad Cities, Peoria and Rockford; and just over an hour
from Bloomington-Normal.
The boat and visitor center are conveniently located off I-80 or I-39. Take Rt. 351 south until 1st Street. Turn right on 1st Street and park. Purchase tickets and start your visit at the Lock 16 Visitor Center, 754 First Street.
From Chicago: Take I-55 (Stevenson Expressway) south to I-80 west. Exit I-80 onto southbound Route 351 (exit #77) at LaSalle. Take Rt. 351 south until 1st Street. Turn right on 1st Street and park. Purchase tickets and start your visit at the Lock 16 Visitor Center, 754 First Street.
From The Quad Cities: Take I-80 east to Route 351 (exit #77) at LaSalle. Go south on Route 351 into LaSalle. The LaSalle Canal Boat will be two blocks south
of downtown LaSalle, where Route 351/Joliet Street crosses over the I&M Canal.
From Peoria, Bloomington-Normal: Take I-39 north to U.S. Route 6 (exit #57). Turn left and go west on Route 6 into LaSalle. Turn left onto Joliet Street/Route 351.
Take Rt. 351 south until 1st Street. Turn right on 1st Street and park. Purchase tickets and start your visit at the Lock 16 Visitor Center, 754 First Street.
From Rockford: Take I-39 south to U.S. Route 6 (exit #57). Turn right and go west on Route 6 into LaSalle. Turn left onto Joliet Street/Route 351. Take Rt. 351 south until 1st Street. Turn right on 1st Street and park. Purchase tickets and start your visit at the Lock 16 Visitor Center, 754 First Street.
LaSalle Canal Boat Parking and Drop-Off: Turn west off of Route 351/Joliet Street into the parking lot immediately south of the I&M Canal.
Visitor Center Parking and Drop-Off: On-street parking is available for guests arriving by car. Motor coaches can load and unload on the Route 351/Joliet Street side of the Visitor Center.
